What documents do I need with me to pick up the car?

In order to pick up the car, the driver must have the following documents:

Passport

Customer / Driver, upon arrival must hold his Passport (Clean and Valid).

Driver's license

All named drivers must hold a full, clean and valid driver's license, valid for the country of use and held for a minimum of one year. For non EU driving licenses, renters must hold an International driver's license and their national one, except Norway, Lichtenstein, Switzerland and Iceland citizens.

Credit card

During the pickup, the driver must have a credit card (not debit card) in his name with enough available funds to cover the amount of own contribution / deposit and pay local charges, extra equipment and everything else he may buy at the counter of the car rental office. The liability amount depends on car category and supplier.

Voucher

When you arrive at the rental station, will be asked by the employee of the station, to show the Voucher of Escape in Greece Car Rental (printed), issued with the confirmation of your booking.

I have no credit card. Can I rent a car?

Using a credit card (not Debit) is required, in order for car rental companies to ensure the renter's liability amounts in the event of damaging the rented vehicle or equipment. In most cases the amount is committed to the credit card of the tenant as guarantee.
That process is a standard practice of all car rental companies.

Can I make any changes to my reservation?

You can use our system to make changes to your reservation, by sending us email with your changes at the option “Contact”. You can add your flight number or request additional equipment like GPS or baby seat.

The company does not charge the changes in bookings, unless the changes affect the rental conditions, like changes in rental dates, moving the booking to a different time period or change of vehicle category. In that case you must cancel your reservation and make a new one.

How do I know that my reservation is confirmed?

When you make your reservation, you will receive by e-mail your voucher, which will contain all the details of your reservation.

Note: If for any reason you do not receive the confirmation voucher, please check your spam mail first and note that you can always check and print your reservation, by entering the field Search Reservation and typing your email address and reservation number in the corresponding fields, then selecting Send Reservation. After this procedure is completed, the confirmation will be sent to you again by e-mail. In case you will not receive your confirmation mail again, you can write an alternative mail at the corresponding field of the option “Search Reservation”.

Will I have extra fees at the rental station?

Escape in Greece Car Rental offers total prices during your reservation, based on the criteria you selected and all charges are shown in detail on your voucher.
There may be additional charges if you decide, when picking up the car, to buy an additional insurance coverage, additional drivers or equipment, for example navigation system, child seat etc.
You can request additional services the moment you submit your reservation. Escape in Greece Car Rental will forward your request to the supplier, but cannot guarantee the availability of additional equipment.

Note:
All local charges are paid directly to the car rental company during the signing of the rental contract.

Is there a charge if I pick up or drop off a car in a station beyond working hours?

In case you need to pick up or deliver the car beyond working hours, the car rental company will ensure that an employee is available at the specific time and place of your choice.

Important notice:when making your reservation you can choose among companies that provide Out Of Working Hours delivery and will be charged an additional amount for this service.

Can I travel to a country outside Greek borders?

Exiting Greek borders by driving a rental car is prohibited by all our collaborators.

Can I drive the car to a Greek island?

Driving a rental car in the Greek islands is allowed without extra charge, but you must inform the car rental company during your pickup. Written approval of the company may be required.

Note:
The insurance does not cover damages caused when loading and unloading the car on the ship and during the journey.

What should I do if my flight is canceled or delayed?

In case of a delay or the cancellation of your flight, you must contact the car rental company as soon as possible at the phone number on your Voucher.
Car rental companies check the flights and if there is a delay, keep your car available until a certain time. For this reason, you must inform the rental company about your flight details. Not informing the rental company about your flight details in time, may cause problems (even cancelation) to your reservation by your culpability.

Escape in Greece Car Rental has no responsibility if you change your travelling plans due to flight delays or cancellations.

What is the policy of car fuel?

Most car rental companies deliver the car with a full tank and must be returned full. In the rental contract you will find, the policy of each company about fuel.
A deposit by credit card may be asked during your pick up, in order to cover the fuel, which is refunded if you return the car in accordance with the fuel policy.

Note: The price per liter charged by the rental agency may be considerably higher than the price at the local station.

How can I cancel my reservation?

You can cancel your reservation only through ourwebsite, by using the option: Search Reservation and after typing your email address and reservation number in the corresponding fields, select Cancel Reservation. After this procedure is completed, the confirmation of cancel will be sent to you by e-mail.

Is there a charge if I cancel my reservation?

If you cancel your reservation up to 48 hours before receiving the car there are no cancellation fees and Escape in Greece will refund your deposit amount.

Cancellations within 48 hours before receiving the car will be charged with the amount of your confirmation deposit.
In case that you will not make use of rental, due to the following cases:

  • No-show at the rental station
  • Invalid documents
  • Invalid credit card
  • Lack of credit limit to cover the rental guarantee amount
  • Personal reasons

There will be no money refund.

What is Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)?

CDW limits the liability of the driver in case the car is damaged, according to the terms of the rental contract.
The amount of discharge depends on the car category and the car rental company. Before you book the car, you will see in detail, in the terms of the supplier, the amount of discharge. Usually this amount is committed, for the duration of the rental, from the credit card of the tenant, for security guarantee.

Note:
When the rental period is over and the vehicle is returned in the same operating condition in which it was received, the car rental company will release the security deposit. It may take up to 7 working days to release the amount after the completion of the rental.

What does the Theft Protection cover?

Theft Protection (TP) reduces the liability of the driver in case of total theft of the vehicle, in an amount of liability under the terms of the contract.
The amount of liability depends on the type of car and the car rental company. If you book the car, you will see in detail, in the terms of the supplier, the amount of discharge. Usually this amount is committed, for the duration of the rental, from the credit card of the tenant, for security guarantee.

What do I have to do in case of an accident or mechanical failure of the vehicle?

In case of an accident or mechanical failure of the vehicle, you should immediately contact the rental company, which in turn will give you instructions and authorization to repair, or replace your car.
You can obtain further information regarding the terms of the cover from the rental provider.

Note: In case of accident exposure, the event log report from the police, is required.

Will there be a money refund if I return the car earlier than scheduled?

Prices are valid for the dates and times agreed, before the beginning of your rental period. If for any reason you decide to pick up the car later or return it sooner than scheduled, there will be no money refund.

Complaints

Complaints are accepted only in writing (e mail) and must be registered by the Customer Service Department of Escape in Greece and received within 30 days from the pickup date of the vehicle. Complaints received after this period will not be taken under consideration.
You can send your complaint mail through the option “Contact”.

Is my payment using credit card secure?

All payments made using credit card are processed through the electronic payment platform "Alpha e-Commerce" of Alpha Bank and uses TLS 1.1 encryption with 128-bit encryption protocol (Secure Sockets Layer - SSL). Encryption is a way of coding the information until it reaches its recipient, who will be able to decode it using the appropriate key.

Will I pick up the exact same car (type and model), I see in the picture?

Vehicle types/models quoted, are an indication only. For example, in some groups, car fleet also includes Diesel engine vehicles. As in most cases there is limited availability and Rental companies cannot guarantee a diesel model but customers may express their preference at time of pick-up.
